What You Need To Obtain A Scuba Diving Certification

Blog

The sea is one of the most beautiful and interesting parts of earth. It has a mystery that makes people want to explore the deep waters. For these reasons, many people are learning how to scuba dive. Scuba diving is a sport that involves underwater diving, which requires you to use an underwater breathing apparatus. However, you must go through some safety training before you can practice this sport. Read on to find out what you need to obtain a scuba diving certification.

Complete Medical Questionnaire

Scuba diving is a strenuous sport that requires you to be in good health and physically fit. Before you can sign up for a class, it must be determined that you are reasonably fit. This information is determined by completing the medical questionnaire. It determines whether you are fit enough to dive.

Pass The Watermanship Test

It is a requirement that you pass the watermanship test before receiving certification. A common requirement to become a certified scuba diver is to show comfort in the water. You must show the ability to swim and float continuously for 200 yards. If you are going to use a snorkel, fins and a mask, then you must swim continuously for 300 yards.

Sign Legal Paperwork

You must complete several legal documents before getting your certification. When you register for class, you must have your completed medical and fitness guidelines form. If you answered "YES" to any of the questions on the form, then you must have a doctor's note before participating.

You are also informed about the risks of scuba diving. Training facilities require you to sign liability forms acknowledging these risks before allowed to participate in water activities. These liability forms release the training agency, the dive store and your instructor from any liability if you get hurt during training.

Complete Open Water Training

The last step of certification is to complete four open water training dives under the supervision of an instructor. These dives are done in a deep lake or the ocean. You have to show your instructor that you can do the things from training in open water. If the instructor approves your diving skills, then he or she will tell the agency to issue you a C-card.  A C-card verifies your training and allows you to obtain scuba equipment.

After you receive your certification, you can start planning your scuba diving trip. It is common to want to try your new skills in open water. To learn more, contact a company like Scuba Haven.

Outdoor Summer Parties

My husband and I enjoy all sorts of sports. We regularly watch our favorite football, baseball, and basketball teams on television. Whenever the weather gets warm outside, we also like to play a little baseball in our backyard. Because we are planning an extensive home renovation project, I plan to invite more people to our home in the future. I’m looking forward to hosting fun outdoor parties. At these parties, I hope to participate in a variety of sports with my friends and family members. One sport I definitely want to play is volleyball. However, we will need to purchase a volleyball net first. On this blog, you will discover the types of sports equipment you will need to host fun, competitive outdoor parties during the summer months.
